Families who own a companion dog often consider it a member of the family. All over the country more public places are welcoming dogs. Motels, pet stores, campgrounds, parks and even restaurants that cater especially to dogs and their owners are springing up rapidly. Doggy apparel, toys, gourmet diets and other products for dogs are a booming industry. Our love affair with dogs that love and serve us only grows deeper.
Some dog owners live in confusion, however, thinking their beloved pet is actually a person like them, with real human characteristics. Dogs, on the other hand, emphatically believe their human nearest and dearest are simply other dogs, albeit a little ungainly. It can make for a worrying state of affairs. So these pet owners truly believe in pampering their dogs. What can they get or do for a man’s best friend?
Well, there are luxury spas out there for pampered dogs these days and they do a booming business. You can usually find these spas listed with the kennels and doggy day care centers in your phone book. Here, your Pomeranian can get a massage, swim, and even get a whirlpool massage at some facilities. Plus, he can be groomed at the same time which saves you time and energy
Some of the dogs featured live in homes that are more like palaces and they enjoy a celebrity status in their own right. Now these are the most-spoiled pampered dogs of all times. Dog mansions can be extreme and expensive with amenities like plumbing, chandeliers, crown molding, closets, designer paint and wallpaper, patios, yards and fences. Some dogs are more likely than a fellow human to get a party thrown in their honor as well. Why the disparity? Probably because dogs get more excited when attention is lavished on them.
Another new trend among pet owners is the dog filled air bed. An air filled dog bed offers pet owners a longer lasting product which is also a much cleaner version of the typical dog beds found at Wal-Mart or Target. This type of dog bedding has several advantages for both the pet owner and the pet. Some pet owners may have their pets outside in which they are exposed to fleas and ticks. Non-air filled dog bedding allows fleas and ticks plenty of space to hide while the air bed does not. The dog filled air bed also limits allergens for pet owners as the cover is easy to wash and allergens cannot go any deeper than the cover.
We know you might want to show off your beloved pet by clothing it in tuxedos or tutus, but, are they really happy? Does it really want to be wearing that costume, inside a piece of luggage, at a table outside Starbucks with all kinds of potentially agitating factors — people, smells, traffic — in the vicinity?
